WE WON -- WE WON -- WE WON !!!

Vermilion County was the top-performing county for the state slate of candidates in this legislative district!  Congratulate Don Dunavan and the crew of precinct committeemen and volunteers from the various campaigns!

Don Crist was returned to office, Lynn Foster had no competition, so we will still have those friendly offices to help the people of Vermilion County.

NANCY FAHEY won for circuit judge despite an onslaught of attacks by her opponent, the present State's Attorney.  Be sure to congratulate Nancy when you see her.  And I think her husband deserves some congratulations, too!  He never tried to upstage her and all choices were hers!

And despite a really desperate campaign featuring stunning lies by his opponent, Michael Frerichs won the election as state Senator!

The Illinois state candidates were all returned to office, and nationally the Democrats won enough seats to give them control of the House, and barely, the Senate.    And, Dr. Gill -- NEXT TIME ! ! !

It is 179 days until we can elect a new President in 2008Regime change begins at home!  Don't be Bush-whacked! Vote November 7, 2006!!! and there had better BE an election then!!!

Notice:  Gerry's beautiful new calendar we were using is currently disabled because we have not had time to track down a "bug" in it.  We are sorry about that.  So Kevin Jessup's great efforts have not made it to the web page.

The abuse of power by the Executive branch of government is no longer going on unmentioned.  People are beginning to realize that they must call a fascist a fascist, or at least comment on the current administration's disdain for the Constitution.  The trend of using paramilitary personnel to take the place of local police is especially worrisome.  Even the Cato Institute, a very conservative think tank, has recently spoken out against the use of paramilitary SWAT teams in
Overkill: The Rise of Paramilitary Police Raids in America.

One of our local VC Democrats sent me these.  And Illinois will be voting on an impeachment law which will be submitted to Congress for a vote.  Not to be outdone, California has added its efforts.

Update:  Vermont beat both Illinois and California at getting the impeachment action before the Congress!

The miscreants controlling the Republican party now are NOT traditional Republicans, but NeoConservatives united by a long term plan to control the world and create a "New World Order."  They want US to be an imperialist nation, are opposed to virtually all programs to give ordinary people anything at all from their government and think that a huge deficit is just fine. There are many Republicans who are as upset as we are at these people, who operate in great secrecy and demand absolute loyalty over competence in making their appointments.  We can only hope that true Republicans will stop voting in lock step with their national leadership.

Oh, where, oh, where, have the WMDs gone?  Oh, where, oh, where, can they be???  Click for reminders of what the Administration told us ... This is finally getting through the press to the people, with latest happening being CIA head attempting to take all responsibility.

Rebellion against the "Patriot" Act  is
well under way as Alaska joins in.

Is this being covered by the press?

UPDATE:  Patriot Act is to expire at the end of the year, and Bush is trying desperately to get it renewed so Republican unprecedented control over lives of Americans is extended.

Sadly the usual Republican hypocrisy runs high when it comes to our service men and veterans

Bush Administration denying honor to our dead and wounded!
In attempt to keep horrors they suffer and number of dead secret, they are not giving honors due our soldiers.  William Pitt is one of many pointing this out recently.  Read his comments here.  Someone has said that some are even discharged before they are counted as wounded!  Read Pitt's editorial from TruthOut on that site or here.

UPDATE:  Old numbers have been deleted, as the  numbers, of course, are much worse now.  We will attempt to update this.

Republicans in the white house are also afraid of the Republican party.  They are trying to stop primaries from being held and have already succeeded in several states.  Many Republicans are concerned about the changes in their party.

Neoconservative: 15-letter word for fascist!

Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of State and corporate power.
Benito Mussolini (1883-1945), Fascist Dictator of Italy

The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to the point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group or any controlling private power.
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt - on the threat to democracy by corporate power

And finally, from a Republican general who became President:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.   We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
Dwight D. Eisenhower's Farewell speech, 1961

Some Bush joke finds

GEORGE BUSH IN LIBRARY
 (from www.topplebush.com)

The president goes into a library. "I would like a cheeseburger and fries," he says in a loud, clear voice.
"But sir," says the assistant, "this is a library."
"Gee, I'm sorry," says Bush, and whispers very quietly, "I'd like a cheeseburger and fries."

And here is another:

I just read that Bush filed with the Federal Election Com. to run for president again - why change strategy now ? Why didn't he just apply to the SUPREME COURT ? Wouldn't that save HUGE bunches of money ??
(source unknown)

Timeless Dubya Jokes

Environmentalists will especially enjoy this anti-ESSO link -- you enter it by pulling George Bush around by the nose with an ESSO button!

How many members of the Bush Administration are needed to replace a light bulb?

The Answer is EIGHT:

(1) One to deny that a light bulb needs to be replaced,

(2) one to attack and question the patriotism of anyone who has questions about the light bulb,

(3) one to blame the previous administration for the need of a new light bulb,

(4) one to arrange the invasion of a country rumored to have a secret stockpile of light bulbs,

(5) one to get together with Vice pResident Cheney and figure out how to pay Halliburton Industries one million dollars for a light bulb,

  (6) one to arrange a photo-op session showing Bush changing the light
bulb while dressed in a flight suit and wrapped in an American flag,

(7) also one to explain to Bush the difference between screwing a light bulb and screwing the country.                    AND

(8) One to tell Paul O'Neill the $44.2 TRILLION national debts he described have now been increasing substantially, so lights are out after 6 pm for national security reasons...

Clocks in heaven

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at
the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.
He asked, "What are all those clocks?"

St. Peter answered, "Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a
Lie-Clock. Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move."

"Oh," said the man, "whose clock is that?"

"That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that
she never told a lie."
"Incredible," said the man. "And whose clock is that one?"

St. Peter responded, "That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have
moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire
life."

"Where's Bush's clock?" asked the man.
"Bush's clock is in Jesus' office.
He's using it as a ceiling fan."
