These are the events which the Democrat Party has helped to publicize this past year.
Please note that these events are not necessarily Democrat-sponsored events.

  • Tuesday, Oct 1  Candidates Forum at Bremer Conference Center, DACC, 6:30pm.

  • Tuesday, Oct 1* Tom Dart Fundraiser. 12noon-130pm, $25 per person at the Hawthorn Suites Hotel (formerly the Radisson), at the corner of Kirby and Neil in Champaign. Luncheon will be served, including choice of Mediterraneanpasta or a chicken/beef duet, plus appetizer, dessert, and coffee.   • Wednesday, Oct  2* Georgetown Homecoming Parade 630pm. Line up at Frazier Elementary School in Georgetown at 530pm

  • Thursday, Oct  3* Ambucs Annual Raffle and Dinner at the Beef House. Social hour at 6pm, dinner at 630pm. Guest tickets $25, raffle tickets $130

  • Friday, Oct 4* Oakwood Homecoming Parade 330pm. Line up at the park in Oakwood around 230pm.

  • Saturday, Oct  5*  Voter Registration Drive. Meet at 10am at Laura Lee Fellowship House, 212 W Williams in Danville. All supplies will be provided. Call Cathy Lacey or John Dreher for more info.

  • Saturday, Oct  5*  U of I Extension Unit Fall Bazaar, 8am-12noon, parking lot of the Extension office at 25 East Liberty Lane. Crafts and homemade items. Master Gardeners will sell outdoor and house plants. 4-H will have children’s games.

  • Sunday, Oct 6*   County Board Member and Precinct Committeewoman Ivadale Foster will be inducted into the “Wall of Fame” at Danville High School at 3pm. The public is invited.

  • Sunday, Oct 6*   30 Days to Go!! Rally for Rod Blagojevich for Governor. 3:00PM at the State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Vermilion County Dems will caravan from Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 157 (just north of the Little Nugget on Henning Road)…as many of as possible wearing our gold polo shirts. Help us make this rally absolutely HUGH!! We want the next Governor to remember who we are!!!!!!

  • Monday, Oct  7  AAUW Candidates Forum at DACC

  • Tuesday, Oct 8*  LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE, CHANGE ADDRESS, OR RE-REGISTER DUE TO NAME CHANGE, TO BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE NOV 5!!!!!!   PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS ARE REGISTERED.   • Saturday, Oct 12 Another cross-district bike trek with Dan McCollum. No cost, t-shirt provided. Call Jeanette for more info at 366-3266

  • Saturday, Oct 12 Old Town Preservation Assn bus trip to Crawfordsville, touring 3 historic museums and visit antique stores. Leave 8am- return approx 5pm.  $25 or $30  Call 443-6783 for more info

  • Saturday, Oct 12   Danville Symphony Orchestra ‘Symphonic Salsa”. 7:30PM at Danville High School 

  • Saturday, Oct 12*   Jamaica High School Fish Fry 430-730pm, $6 per person

  • Saturday, Oct 12*   Hoopeston Regional Health Center benefit for development of a diabetes program. Dinner and music at Hubbard Trail Country Club in Rossville. Call 283-4243 for more info

  • Saturday, Oct 12*   Lions Club Fun Day at Georgetown Fairgrounds. Breakfast 730-1030am. Junk Yard Dogs Run for Fun open show of cars and motorcycles. Swap meet.. Food and family fun throughout the day..

  • Sunday, Oct 13*   Senator Dick Durbin debates his opponent on WILL Channel 12 in Champaign at 7pm. The debate is closed, so there will be no audience in the studio. The College Dems are hosting a “debate-watching party” at the basement of Presidential Towers, 302 E John St in Urbana. Senator Durbin will arrive between 830-900pm. Everyone is invited

  • Sunday, Oct 13* Annual Ham and Bean Dinner at Catlin Historical Society, served on the museum grounds from 1130am-3pm. Free will donation.

  • Monday, Oct 14   Edgar County Dems Annual Mostaccioli Dinner, 4-7pm in Paris

  • Monday, Oct 14* Fundraiser for Dan McCollum at the Heron Restaurant on N Vermilion St. in Danville. Subject: Development of the Riverfront, and how the state can help. 7:00PM. Donation $10, cash bar. Special guest State Rep Jeff Shoenberg. 

 

  • Thursday, Oct 17 Fundraiser for Judge Sue Myerscough, candidate for Supreme Court.From 5-7pm at the Heron Restaurant on Vermilion St in Danville. $35 per person. Hosted by Paul and Bonnie Manion. Email RSVP at paulman@soltec.net , or call 283-6757

  • Thursday, Oct 17 Kiwanis Pancake Day, Palmer Arena 

  • Friday, Oct 18*   Senior Citizens’ ham and beans luncheon at the Village Hall in Catlin. All area seniors are invited. Cost $2.50. Bingo will follow; bring small prize for bingo. RSVP to 427-2131 

  • Friday, Oct 18   Bismarck Homecoming Parade 1:00PM. Line up 12noon at the High School

  • Friday, Oct 18  Salt Fork Homecoming Parade. Starts at 130pm; line up 1230pm at Catlin High School

  • Saturday Oct 19*  Sidell Fire and Rescue Ghost Rally. Starts at the ball diamond at dark $15 per carload

  • Saturday Oct 19   Freddie and the Freeloaders 40th Reunion, David S Palmer Arena 8pm Tickets $10; tables for 8 avail $80

  • Saturday, Oct 19  Haunted Happenings at Kennekuk County Park, 6-10pm.. Only 1500 tickets will be sold. Volunteers are needed to work the event. Contact Lynn Foster at 442 1861.  This would be a good place for those gold Dems shirts!

  • Saturday, Oct 19*  Rossville Methodist Church, corner of Church and Maple Sts, Fall Festival with outstanding bazaar 9am-2pm (shop early!!) and chicken and noodles luncheon starts at 11am.

  • Sunday, Oct 20*   Annual “Dinner in the Country” at Indianola Methodist Church, 1130am-130pm, free will donation. Turkey or Swiss steak, great pies, etc.

  • Sunday, Oct 20  Vermilion Festival Chorus Fall Concert, 3:00PM at Holy Family, corner of Main and Park in Danville

  • Sunday, Oct 20*  Basketball fundraiser for “Food for Kids” at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 5:00PM.

  • Monday, Oct 21 Vermilion County Democrats Regular Monthly Meeting  7pm, Democrat Headquarters, 102 W North, Danville 

  • Friday, Oct 25*   “Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the Fisher Theatre on Vermilion St in Danville. Shows at 7pm and at 10pm. $10 per person. Tickets sold at the door, or in advance between 6-7pm each night 22-24 Oct at the theatre.

  • Friday, Oct 25*  Chicken and Noodles at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hoopeston, corner of Market and Honeywell, 430-830pm

  • Friday Oct 25*   Halloween Roller Skate at Illini Skateland, 630-830pm

  • Friday, Oct 25- Sunday, Oct 27  Danville Light Opera presents “Sugar”

  • Friday, Oct 25 - Sunday, Oct 27*    Harvest Festival and Hauntwed Woods at Potomac Park. 25th 6pm-12midnight; 26th 10am-12midnight; 27th 11am-6pm

  • Saturday, Oct 26 Potomac Harvest Festival Parade 10am. Line up 9am at the grade school. All VC Dems candidates and officeholders are already entered. Please let Don Dunavan know if you will/will not be attending, at 759-7324

  • Saturday, Oct 26  County-wide Lit Drop of Targeted Precincts. Meet at the Deluxe Restaurant. Breakfast at 8:00AM, begin distributing literature at 9:00AM  This is a crucial day! We will need lots of volunteers to make this work, so please come and help. Bring family and friends. Our goal is to be finished before 12:00noon 

  • Saturday, Oct 26*   Heavenly Hosts Bazaar at United Methodist Church in Hoopeston, 403 E Main, 8am-1pm. Lunch will be served also

  • Saturday, Oct 26  Candidates Forum at Danville Public Library, sponsored by NAACP 10am-1pm. Call Joe Williams with any questions 443-3528

  • Saturday, Oct 26*   Danville Jaycees Haunted Afternoon, 1-3pm at Daniel School on the Georgetown Road

  • Saturday, Oct 26*    Catlin American Legion Breakfast 7am-10am

  • Saturday, Oct 26- Sunday, Oct 27  Annual Kickapoo Karvers show at the Ramada Inn, Lynch Spur in Danville

  • Sunday, Oct 27*   Roast beef dinner at Holy Family Church in Danville…always good, and a nice crowd too.

  • Sunday, Oct  27*   Iroquois County Democrats 21st Annual Oktoberfest….Miss Karol’s Restaurant, Rte 24 East, Watseka. Beer, brats, sauerkraut and German potato salad. $10 per person

  • Monday, Oct 28*         Rod Blagojevich  will be at Vermilion County Airport at 9:00AM as the first leg of a fly-around-the-state tour. Please come and bring friends and family too…..We want a big crowd to cheer on our next Governor!!! 

  • Monday, Oct 28*   Rally for Senator Dick Durbin, 4pm, in Champaign at Room 314B in the Illini Union. Everyone is invited!

  • Monday, Oct 28 - Thursday, Oct 31*   Danville Kiwanis Breakfast Club collection of hygiene products (soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, etc) in small sizes such as hotels give out. Will be collected for delivery in kids’ packages for Haiti. Call Lynn Foster at 442-1861 for pick-up, or deliver to County Clerk’s office

  • Tuesday, Oct  29*   Career Expo 2002 at Palmer Arena in Danville. Businesses which would like to reserve a space call 442-0461. No fee.
