Keeping Informed about the Opposition and the Issues

Page Update:  Since I started this web page, there have been many more very important books which discuss Democrat issues and problems we are seeing in the country.  I am adding more recent books to the list now.   Last updated Thursday, April 8, 2004

Here is a list of books which Democrats can use to inform themselves of issues affecting our very lives.  Some of these books were best sellers, but seldom if ever mentioned in the news. Some particularly important ones are highlighted in blue.

In general these books are not "Democrat" books as such, and Democrat organizations are not responsible for their content.  They are books recommended by Democrats concerned with the issues arising from the last campaign and from the presidency and leadership of George W. Bush and the Republican Party.

To see the earlier list, just keep scrolling down.  I hope it is a good sign that there are so many books and so many people who are bravely standing up against Bush.

Some of the most recent and most important are these:

  • Against All Enemies -- Inside America's War on Terror    by Richard A. Clarke

  • Rogue State -- America at War with the World    T.D.  Allman

  • Bush's War for Reelection -- Iraq, the White House, and the People   by James Moore

  • MoveOn's 50 Ways to Love Your Country -- How to find your political voice and become a catalyst for change

  • How Much Are You Making on The War, Daddy?     by William D. Hartung

  • Perfectly Legal-- The covert campaign to right our tax system to benefit the Super Rich and Cheat everyone else, by David Cay Johnston

  • AMERICAN DYNASTY -- Aristocracy, Fortune, and the Politics of Deceit in the House of Bush by Kevin Phillips

  • The Lies of George W. Bush --   Mastering the Politics of Deception, by David Corn

  • The Price of Loyalty -- George W. Bush, the White House, and the Education of Paul O'Neill, by Ron Suskind.  This is the book in which Paul O'Neill told us what is really happening in the White House.  He is being royally dumped on by the Republican establishment.  You have got to admire his courage.

  • The Great Unraveling -- Losing our way in the new century, by Paul Krugman.  This man does for economics what Sagan did for physics and astronomy.

  • The Bubble of American Supremacy -- correcting the misuse of American power, by George Soros, the billionaire who regards defeat of Bush imperative to save our country and is putting his money where his mouth is.

  • The Bush-Hater's Handbook -- A guide to the most appalling presidency of the past 100 years, by Jack Huberman

  • The  Oh Really? Factor -- Unspinning Fox News Channel's Bill O"Reilly, by Peter Hart and FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy In Reporting)
