Sunday Sept 1 - Monday, Sept 2   St Mary’s in Westville Annual Hog Roast. Sun Sept 1 from 4-8pm, sandwich, chips and drink $5; Mon Sept 2 from 11am-8pm, pork, beans, slaw, dessert, beverage $5

Monday, Sept  2   Labor Day Parades: 10am Danville, 1130am Westville. Sign up early.

Wednesday, Sept 11*   Red Cross Blood Drive “Tree of Life”. From 12noon to 6:00pm at 320 N Franklin St in Danville. Call Claire Dains 1-800-728-3543 for an appointment

Friday, Sept 13*   Roast beef dinner at Lincoln United Methodist Church, 1400 N Vermilion in Danville, 4-7pm, $6 per person

Saturday Sept 14*  Steve Ferguson for Circuit Judge…..Fundraising Reception 8:00AM-9:30AM at the Deluxe Restaurant in Danville. Free will donation.

Saturday Sept 14   Indianola Fall Festival; cake walk, softball, etc; BarBQ supper starts at 4pm; cakewalk starts at 630pm. Music and entertainment from 3-9pm

Saturday Sept 14 Korean War 50th Anniversary event at Vermilion County Airport . Bands, entertainment, vintage aircraft and automobiles. Big Band dance in the evening and a fireworks spectacular. For specifics call 442-4624

Friday Sept 20  F.O.O.D. Annual Fall Cookout and Bonfire at the home of Barbara and John Dreher, 22 McVey St in Danville (turn south at the airplane and you’re there!). Chili, soup and other good things provided. Bring a dessert and your lawn chairs… Starts at  5:00  PM til ?

Thursday, Sept 26*   “Minimum Wage and Its Effect on Women” Featured guest speaker Pat Quinn. Urbana Civic Center (108 Water St, Urbana) 12noon-1pm. Snacks will be provided. Hosted by the Women’s Advisory Board to the Democratic Party of llinois and candidate for State Representative Naomi Jakobsson. No charge

Saturday, Sept. 28   10th Annual Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s- teams or individuals call Tami Siddens at 217-351-1726 or email tamisiddens@alz.org  This is supposed to be held in conjunction with Downtown Danville Crow Fest Parade- hope to get more info later!

Saturday, Sept  28*  Annual Viking Invitational Band Competition at DHS 12noon-4pm

Sunday, Sept. 29   Heart Walk…starts at Village Mall and goes south on Vermilion and back…. 3 miles…..2 pm start time. Vermilion County Dems will walk as a team, so wear your gold Dems shirts or one for your favorite candidate. Dems will meet at 1:30PM at the mall and walk as a “golden” group.
